Bittersweet is the PERFECT word!
Wow! Another year down of teaching! Well, at least for my senior classes... Finals are in the process of being corrected, grades are being updated, and today, I saw the PHS class of 2014 sitting in the seats they will occupy during class day and graduation this year. My emotions are everywhere. There is love, worry, anxiousness, and even sometimes, a little bit of dislike in my classroom on a daily basis. It's funny, and it my sound "clicheish" but once a student steps foot in my class (either to visit or to be taught) they become part of me. I call them my kids, my cherubs, my pains in the buttocks, my reason for teaching, and why I go to work everyday with a smile on my face and my heart on my sleeve. My students have seen me cry, laugh, smile, scream and a couple of times even swear! It's funny because when I first started teaching I NEVER thought that so many emotions would be involved. Now, I've lost track of the many pieces of my heart that walk outside of my chest.
Today, I dedicate this blog to the Class of 2014. Not just at PHS but CHS, CCHS, and any other High School where my kids have gone to. I take my hat off to you for making it, and showing everyone how amazing, smart, funny, eclectic, athletic, silly, fun, studious, and creative you are! I say congratulations to you on your achievement! I say, SEEEE!!!! I told you, you could do it! I say, you showed them, didn't you? I say, keep in touch! Let me know how well you are doing! I say Thank you for blessing me with your presence in my life.
You were meant for greatness and I look forward to reading in the papers about all of the AMAZING things you do, hearing about your achievements in the news, and maybe even checking out your statuses on Facebook... or your Twitter feed... or your Instagram... Either way, I will keep an eye on you, not as a creeper or a stalker, but as a momma hen who has sent her baby chicks out into the big bold world. Yes, you are my chicks, my booboos, my baby girls, mi mijas, and my reason for doing what I do and loving it.
With tears in my eyes (YOU KNOW IT!) and my heart in my hand I say, "Congrats class of 2014! Soar high! Be great! Oh, and keep me posted!"
Much love, peace, and blessings,
Señora
