Casual Conversations...
As a teacher you learn to listen to some things and ignore others. No, not from adults (although...) more from students. Today was an example on how getting to know your students and making them feel confortable can be a lot of fun. I say this all the time, but the BEST and most AMAZING part of my job are the kids!
As I'm writing this I'm remembering the conversations that are had around my desk at the end of the day and I can not help but giggle at the fact that my kids are so funny as well as very inappropriate at times; but that's what makes it fun. That's what makes it ok! They are confortable enough around me to have the conversations that others would either wince at or give detentions for, and that means so much. It humbles me and makes me proud to know that they can be THEMSELVES in front of me. It makes them real, it makes them true, and it makes them (not in a weird way!) mine!
Those of you who know teenagers can attest to the fact of how skeptical they are of everyone. They have a hard time opening up to people, especially adults. Not my students! At least not with me... They can talk about girls, boys, friends, family, potty breaks and what they do during their potty breaks, and farts. They can even FART in front of me! If that doesn't say trust and genuine love, I don't know what does. HAHA! So, "red face", silly ones, Izaac II, Gally from Maze Runner, Angel, and student intern: Thank you for being you around me!!! I love that I can be me around you!
So, here's to my students! Thank you for being humble, annoying, petty, silly, comfortable, rude, loving, playful, honest, sarcastic, real and most importantly, Thank you for being YOU! Señora loves YOU to infinity and beyond!
